Cedar Avenue

The Cedar Avenue is beyond the Barbican Gate entrance to the park and is lined with these magnificent Himalayan cedars (cedrus deodara) which have wide spreading branches and blue green foliage.

This beautiful avenue leads to the rangers office, the car parks and the way marked walking trails.

Stone Bridges

The Shimna river flows through the centre of the park draining rain water from the Mournes to the sea at Newcastle

The stone bridges were constructed over 200yrs ago by various owners and several were built and named in rememberance of relatives. They cross the tree lined river with its deep rock pools and waterfalls.
